Support forest protection
India’s forests are home to elephants, tigers and forest communities. They are our country’s lungs and our heritage and you can take action to protect them.
I came to you asking support for the Lemru elephant reserve in Chhattisgarh earlier. However, the issue of human-elephant conflict has become much bigger in the forests of North Chhattisgarh and I believe it requires a landscape level conservation approach to ensure the forests are protected not only for elephants but also for Leopards, Sloth Bears and people.
Forests of Chhattisgarh are under great threat as the government gives off the forest to coal companies, without consulting the communities or considering the elephants. Further forest diversion could escalate the conflict between people and elephants.
